Work Experience
My work experiences are varied but are primarily technology based. Here are some highlights.
1985 to 1989 I worked various odd jobs including: short order cook, Pizza Hut cook, general office work, tennis instructor for Rollins College, lawn care and maintenance
1989 to 1991 I worked mostly ministry related jobs, helping at various members’ business as requested
1991 to 2000 Began working for Dog River Business Solutions, a technology firm started by my father. I started at the very bottom as a general gopher. I slowly took on more responsibility as the business grew and technology evolved. Here are some of the highlights during my employment at DRBS:
- helped install and maintain one of the first PC based networks in our town
- helped develop one the first fully digital newspapers in Vermont totally bypassing paste-up and printing camera ready proofs direct from PC.
- developed several marketing campaigns with various supporting materials, i.e. brochures, business cards, flyers, etc.
- in 1995 began to focus on web related technologies and helped plan and establish one of the first Internet Server Providers for our town, in direct competition with our local rural telephone company. Our service was successful because of personal service, support, and on-site configuration of the dial-up connection. This included the deployment and management of some of the first Windows based web servers and support systems in our area.
- help develop the Dog River Design division of Dog River Business Solutions to focus on web based marketing and information services. Duties included; creation of web sites, creation of marketing campaigns, management of internet related services for DRBS.
- received the role of the primary consultant for technology-related consulting and network planning for the majority of DRBS clients, working to create custom tailored business solutions to meet the clients’ needs and budgets. I continued with my duties on the web related technologies and services.
2001 to Present Late in 2000 I moved from Vermont to South Carolina and it was decided to reorganize DRBS into a separate unique businesses. Through a mutually acceptable and amicable agreement between the parties, I assumed control and ownership of Dog River Design and I currently handle all the day to daily administrative, marketing, and client support & development duties for Dog River Design, LLC. In 7 years the business’s profitability has more than doubled and we currently host, design & develop, market and support web sites for nearly 60 clients. We currently employ various technologies to meet the diverse needs and goals of our clients.
